RULES & GUIDELINES OF PLAY
RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR PICKLEBALL COURT PLAY
ARIZONA TRADITIONS PICKLEBALL CLUB
2011
Purpose: The following rules and guidelines are meant to assist the purpose of the AZT Pickleball Club, which is “to provide a fun, healthy, recreational activity for all AZT residents (owners & renters) and their house guests.” (Article II- Purpose, of the AZT Pickleball Club Bylaws)
The Rules and Guidelines Committee considered the following issues: court usage, court schedule, Ladder League, court conduct, guidelines regarding homeowners, renters, visitors, house guests, and all associated dues and fees, making certain we adhere to the AZT Pickleball Club ByLaws.
Court Schedule for Pickleball Club Members:
Monday thru Saturday 7:00 A.M to 11:00 A.M. all year round.
Court Schedule for Homeowners, Renters, and Guests: Court 6 is an open court to homeowners, renters and their guests during club play hours. All homeowners, renters, and their guests may play on any of the courts after 11:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M., and any time on Sunday, as per HOA policies. The pickleball courts are property of all AZT residents (owners and renters) and are there for all to enjoy. All non-club members who come to play pickleball shall be encouraged to donate money to the club to help defray the cost of balls.
Court Play Time During Club Hours: As a way for all members to have an allotted time to play during club play, and when the courts are full, with more than 8 players waiting, please put your name on a sign-up sheet and use the following process:
2in-2out: When the first game is over the losers would leave, put their names on the sign-up sheet, and as other players leave the courts, they too would add their names to the list.
The next two players on the list would be the next to play. They would cross their names off the list when entering the court. The winners would split unless agreed upon by all players to stay together. When this game is over, those having played two consecutive games would leave the court, and put their names on the sign-up sheet, along with the losers of that game. This process continues through the end of each game with each player being able to play two consecutive games except for the first round when the losers leave the courts.
4in-4out: If more than 12 players are waiting to play when a game is finished, and all courts are being used, when a game ends, all four players should leave the court and add their names on the sign-up sheet. The next four players on the list would play next, crossing their names off their names as they go onto the court, and then add their names to the sign-up sheet when they leave. This same process of 4 out and 4 in should be used on the days when Ladder League is being played, especially when there are more players than courts available.
